Talkwave is a voice chat and friendship platform for adults. These Community Guidelines are part of the Terms of Service and apply to live voice, private messages, profiles and profile photos, room aliases, report notes, encounters, follows, Hooks, and every other interaction on Talkwave.
1. Be respectful
- Do not threaten, bully, harass, stalk, shame, or deliberately intimidate another person.
- Do not direct hateful conduct at people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or another protected characteristic.
- Do not encourage self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, or dangerous behavior. If someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
- Do not disrupt rooms with deliberate noise, shouting, or repeated interruptions.
2. Protect people from sexual exploitation
- No sexual exploitation, non-consensual sexual content, grooming, sextortion, or solicitation of sexual services.
- Any sexual content involving a person under 18 is prohibited and may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
- Talkwave is for adults age 18 and older. Do not help an underage person get around the age requirement.
3. Keep private information private
- Do not share another person's home address, phone number, private messages, precise location, financial information, sign-in information, or other private data without permission.
- Do not record or distribute a room conversation without the consent required by applicable law and by the people involved.
- Do not use encounters, presence, follows, or Hooks to monitor or pursue someone who does not want contact.
4. Be authentic and lawful
- Do not impersonate another person, organization, or Talkwave representative.
- Do not organize violence, illegal activity, scams, fraud, spam, malware, or unauthorized commercial solicitation, and do not use rooms or messages to advertise or move people to other services for commercial gain.
- Do not infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights.
- Do not file false reports, coordinate reports against someone, create accounts to evade enforcement, or get around blocks, room removals, topic restrictions, text filters, or other safety controls.
- Profile photos must follow these Guidelines. A profile photo is shown only to your friends and never in rooms, where everyone appears as a cartoon avatar. No nudity or sexual content, no hateful or violent imagery, and no photos of other people taken or shared without their permission or used to impersonate someone. Friends who can see a profile photo can report it with the reason Inappropriate profile photo, and Talkwave may remove a photo that breaks these Guidelines. Profile photo uploads are limited each day, and going over the limit automatically restricts the account or the network used (see the Terms of Service, Section 6).
5. Child Safety Standards
Talkwave is only for adults age 18 and older and has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE).
- Prohibited: any sexual content involving a person under 18, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM); sexualized descriptions or depictions of minors; grooming or any attempt to make sexual contact with a minor; sextortion; trafficking of minors; and sharing, requesting, or linking to any such material.
- Do not help a person under 18 create or use a Talkwave account.
- Reporting in the app: in a room, tap the person's avatar to open their member card, tap Report, and choose the reason that fits, such as Underage user, Sexual or vulgar content, Harassment or abuse, or Threats or violence. Add a note with the details needed for review. Outside a room, you can report a friend from their profile or the menu in your chat with them. You can also email
[email protected]. - Review and action: Talkwave operations reviews these reports. When a violation is confirmed, we close the account, remove it from rooms, and preserve the information needed as evidence.
- Reporting to authorities: we report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and, where appropriate, to the competent local authorities, as required by law.
- Legal compliance: Talkwave complies with applicable child safety laws, including United States federal law and state laws.
- Child safety contact: the designated contact for child safety matters is
[email protected](Talkwave operations).
If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
6. Safety tools
- Mute changes only what you hear in the current room. The person you mute can see that you muted them; other members cannot.
- Report sends a reason and an optional note to Talkwave for review. In a room, report someone from their member card; outside rooms, you can report a friend from their profile or the menu in your chat with them. Reports should be accurate and made in good faith. The reported person is not told who reported them.
- Block ends the friendship and stops future search, friend request, follow, and message interaction between the two accounts.
- Room removal: when enough different members of a room report the same person, that person is removed from the room and cannot enter rooms of the same topic for a short time. This automatic step does not replace review of the reports, and reports made outside rooms do not count toward it.
- Text filters: nicknames, profile introductions, and messages that contain prohibited words are rejected automatically.
- Room recording: to counter crime of every kind, Talkwave has no choice but to record room voice. We tell you this clearly every time you sign in; you must agree before using the service, and if you decline you are signed out. Recordings are used to review reports, investigate and prevent crime, and cooperate with law enforcement, and are kept as described in the Privacy Policy.
If there is an immediate threat or emergency, leave the room and contact local emergency services. Talkwave support is not an emergency service.
7. Review and enforcement
Talkwave reviews reports. We may look at the available account, room, message, report, and technical information and may issue a warning, remove a user from a room, restrict features, suspend an account, terminate an account, or preserve information when reasonably necessary for safety or legal compliance. We consider context, severity, history, and risk, and we may act without prior notice in urgent or serious cases. We do not promise a specific review or response time, and we do not share the outcome of a report with other users.
8. Contact and appeals
Report in the app whenever you can. For safety concerns, appeals of an enforcement decision, or other questions, email [email protected] with your Talkwave user code, the approximate time and time zone, the topic or room, and a short description. Do not email passwords or verification codes.
